CHRISTOPHER Bailey has officially started his job as chief executive of Burberry after a six month handover period to prepare him to take over the top role from Angela Ahrendts who leaves for Apple.

Mr Bailey, who was creative director, and Ms Ahrendts have been credited with helping restore Burberry's cachet

However he faces significant challenges, including trying to grow revenue in fragrance and beauty after the firm began directly operating that business last year.
