LLOYDS Banking Group deputy chairman David Roberts is stepping down to move to Nationwide Building Society.

Mr Roberts plans to leave the bank on May 14 and join Nationwide as a non-executive director and its chairman elect from the start of September.

As a result of that move Lloyds said it was appointing Scottish born Anita Frew as its new deputy chairman.

Ms Frew has been a non-executive director at the bank since December 2010 and has other non-executive posts including at Aberdeen Asset Management and engineering group IMI.

She will also join the remuneration committee and chair the risk committee at Lloyds.
