THE Converge Challenge for academics and students has attracted a record 111 entries in its fifth year.

The organisers said that was an increase of around 80% from last year and they hope to provide training to dozens of university entrepreneurs in the coming months.

The top prize this year is worth around £60,000 with a total pot of £123,000 up for grabs. Director Olga Kozlova said: "I am delighted to see more and more projects coming forward as the competition acts as a beacon for entrepreneurship among our scientists and students."
