DOORSTEPS Catering Company is planning to double its turnover in the next two years after securing funding to allow it to move into larger premises.
The business, formed five years ago by friends Ian Still and Derek Thores who were running their own catering firms, was running at full capacity at its old site and had grown turnover to around £1 million for 2013. Now the Aberdeen business, which employs 16, has agreed to move into a site five-times larger than its current facility. The new base has two warehouses, one for storage and one for food production, as well as office space and a refrigeration room. The move is being funded by a £300,000 loan from Royal Bank of Scotland.
Doorsteps also intends to expand its fleet of vans from eight to 10 which will result in the recruitment of three more drivers. Two additional production staff are also being sought.
Mr Still, a director of Doorsteps, said: "We expect a 30 per cent to 40 per cent increase in turnover this year as a result of the increase in space and hope to reach £2 million turnover within two years.
"One of the main differences will be our ability to store fresh food in our specialist refrigeration room." Doorsteps delivers to companies around Aberdeen and counts FG Burnett, Sparrows Offshore, Stronachs, Johnston Carmichael and Craig Group.
RBS business development director Ian Donaldson said: "Doorsteps is now able to make the most of growth opportunities and I look forward to seeing it develop into its new premises over the coming months."
