GRAHAM'S the Family Dairy has scooped a hat-trick of gongs at the latest Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards, lifting the prizes for brand success, entrepreneur and business of the year.

Bridge of Allan-based Graham's was joined at the podium as a multiple winner on the night by whisky and gin producer The Spencerfield Spirit Company, which took the awards for best alcoholic drink and small business of the year.

Two of the 22 awards presented also went to Edinburgh-based haggis com-pany Macsween, which triumphed in the meat and product categories.

There were awards, too, for start-ups such as Island Girl and the recently-formed Ronan Foods, and for family businesses such as Glenrath Farms and Mathiesons Bakery.

An award for outstanding contribution to the food and drink industry was pre-sented to Alan Hardie, of West Lothian shortbread and oatcakes maker Paterson Arran.

The winners emerged after judges tasted 115 food and drink entries, and examined submissions from 102 businesses across the categories.

An audience of 700 attended the presentation and dinner at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

James Wither, Scotland Food & Drink chief executive, said: "The awards recognise our best food and drink products and businesses and each finalist merits the commendation.

"There is a food and drink revolution happening in Scotland, driving record sales at home and overseas," he added.
