Reid joins Shepherd

SHEPHERD Chartered Surveyors has appointed Tom Reid as a commercial surveyor in its Ayr office.

Mr Reid, a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, began his career in Glasgow with a national surveyor, before switching a multinational specialising in retail agency after a decade.

He also has spent several years working in the residential agency sector in central Scotland.

Mr Reid said: "I'm delighted to join a leading firm of surveyors that continues to expand its operations.

"Since Shepherd joined forces with Bell Ingram last year, it has become the dominant player in Ayrshire's surveying market and I'm pleased to be given an opportunity to play a part in the further expansion of theses services throughout the region."

All change at MMS

LAW firm Maclay Murray & Spens has announced the internal promotion of 20 lawyers across its UK operations, including four partners.

The new partners include Glasgow-based Lorna McCaa, currently a director in MMS' tax group, and Edinburgh-based corporate specialist Claire Armstrong.

Also stepping up to partner level are property lawyer Anju Suneja, who works between the firm's offices in Glasgow and London offices, and Craig Neilson of the firm's commercial dispute resolution team in the UK capital.

MMS has also appointed six directors and ten associates.

Chief executive Kenneth Shand said: "These promotions cover all our offices and a number of practice areas, which speaks volumes for the breadth and depth of experience we have within MMS. The individuals have combined talent with extremely hard work and exceptional dedication to clients.

Greig goes to RMEC

OILFIELD services company RMEC has hired a new operations manager.

Dean Greig arrives at the Forfar-based well intervention equipment firm shortly after it announced a £7.5million investment by Maven Capital Partners.

Mr Greig, who joins with more than 35 years' engineering and well services experience, has held a range of on and offshore operational roles across the North Sea.

He joins RMEC from Aker Qserv, and will be tasked with driving the ongoing development of well service operations as the company targets growth.

Managing director Bryan Fagan said: "Dean is a well-known and highly respected figure in the industry and his joining the team provides us with the operational experience we need to complement the existing technical expertise that has underpinned our business and helped consolidate our position in the industry to date.

"This provides us with a strong platform on which to build and reach our ambition of becoming a leader in the rental, sale and service of equipment for well services."

Two hires for DTZ

PROPERTY services firm DTZ has added two recruits to its Glasgow office.

Neil MacDougall has joined as senior surveyor in the firm's project and building consultancy team, while Katarzyna Ignaciuk has been hired as graduate surveyor in the valuation team.

Mr MacDougall, who joins from Watts Group, brings seven years' experience in the building consultancy field to the role. Ms Ignaciuk recently graduated from the University of Aberdeen with an MSc in International Real Estate Markets.
