CAN Group, the oil and gas services firm, has safeguarded 150 jobs after sealing contract renewals with US energy giants worth a total of £200 million.
Aberdeen-based CAN has extended its relationship with ConocoPhillips by agreeing a five-year deal to provide the oil and gas giant with non-destructive testing and inspection services.
And it has built on its links with Apache with a three-year contract to provide topsides inspection and integrity support services to the operator in the North Sea.

There are options to extends both deals by up to four years. CAN, which has worked with ConcoPhillips since 1995, has broadened the services it offers the firm to include asset integrity technical services, such as structural, corrosion and inspection engineering. This work will be delivered by ENGTEQ, its integrity engineering business.
Both CAN and ENGTEQ have been working for Apache on its assets in the North Sea since 2007.
They will continue to provide the oil and gas exploration and production firm with inspection and integrity engineering services such as non-destructive testing and advanced inspection.
The deal will also cover corrosion, structural and inspection engineering services.

"We expect to grow rapidly in the next five years by maintaining existing contracts, and securing new business in the North Sea."
CAN turns over £70 million and employs more than 700 staff.
