Vallance is connected to law network

XCONNECT2LAW, the referral and support network for Scottish law firms, has added solicitor Stephen Vallance, pictured, to its team.

Mr Vallance joins the network, operated by Harper Macleod, after building up his own practice, Vallance, Kliner & Associates.

New promotions at Miller Samuel

XSCOTTISH legal practice Miller Samuel has promoted two new partners, Stephen Connolly, left, and Deborah Carmichael, below left.

XMr Connolly, who joined the firm in 2006, specialises in employment law. He is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and the Scottish Discrimination Law Association.

Ms Carmichael, who also joined in 2006, has become a partner in the firm's litigation department. Currently working towards a masters in advocacy at the University of Strathclyde, her areas of expertise include debt, recovery and insolvency. She also works on construction, property and contractual disputes.

Piper brings in Clark as legal director

XDLA Piper has expanded its litigation and regulatory team in Edinburgh with the appointment of Joanna Clark, pictured, as a legal director.

Ms Clark, who joins the firm from Brodies, brings almost 20 years' experience to the role.

This includes 16 years with Shepherd and Wedderburn, where she specialised in dispute resolution.

At DLA Piper she will focus mainly on commercial dispute resolution, but will also cover insolvency, tax and public law disputes. Simon Rae, office managing partner of DLA Piper in Edinburgh, said: "Our litigation and regulatory team in Edinburgh is experiencing great success with clients across the UK, Europe and further afield.

"Joanna brings 20 years' experience to this role along with a strong reputation for delivering high quality service to her clients. We are confident that she will be an asset to the team and will play an integral role in DLA Piper's continuing success in Scotland."

Core strengthened with Zadravecz appointment

CORE-Asset Consulting has appointed Donat Zadravecz as a recruitment consultant, focused on placing staff in investment management roles.

The arrival of Mr Zadravecz, formerly a risk consultant in Budapest, follows the arrival of Oscar Silberg in a similar post.

Their appointments mean the company has boosted its headcount by more than 70 per cent to 23 staff in the past 12 months.
