Balfour Beatty's Paisley-based civil engineering and construction business, which employs 260 at West Point business park, has said its recent raft of new contracts are worth £17.5 million.

The biggest contract is a £5.1 million deal with a new customer, Valad., for infrastructure works at Darnley Mains, an undeveloped site in south-west Glasgow.

Power sector work includes a £1.2 million substation expansion at Longannet in Fife for ScottishPower, and a £840,000 enabling works contract at Chapel Cross in Dumfries and Galloway.

In the transport sector, Balfour Beatty has been awarded two significant contracts at Glasgow Airport and one at Edinburgh Airport.

It is also carrying out £700,000 of improvements on the 50-year-old Forth Road Bridge.
