EDRINGTON Group has created a new global travel retail unit to handle its interests in that sector.

The unit, which will start operating on October 1, will be run from Singapore but take overall control for existing businesses in Asia, Europe and the Americas.

The Macallan and Famous Grouse maker said Tellis Baroutsis, currently its head of European travel retail plus Nordic and central European operations, will relocate to head up the new travel division.

Edrington's recent financial results, which saw turnover rise three per cent to £730.4 million and underlying pre-tax profits go from £168.6m to £174m, highlighted strong growth in its travel retail arm.

The move builds on recent changes which have seen Edrington take more control over its distribution.
