DIAMOND merchant Chisholm Hunter has launched a new store in Glasgow's Argyll Arcade, swelling its portfolio to 23 units across the UK.
The Glasgow-based retailer has hired nine new staff to work in the store, with a further member of staff joining from an existing shop.
The store, which is housed in the former Watches of Switzerland unit, is the company's fourth in the Argyll Arcade. It follows the launch of a shop in Kingston upon Thames in May.
A further store is poised to come on stream in Bromley, Kent, with the company continuing to look at sites for additional openings.
Chisholm Hunter said its latest Glasgow unit will showcase its "prestigious" pre-owned watch range, featuring timepieces from brands such as Rolex, Cartier, Omega and Ulysse Nardin.
Director Tracey Brown, who owns the company with husband Harry, said: "Glasgow is renowned for its great style and fashion and we are delighted to be opening another store in the city centre.
"Now is the perfect time for the launch with the Commonwealth Games approaching and the city attracting visitors from all over the globe.
"The spotlight is on Glasgow and we aim to show that our customer service and product ranges really are world class."
The company's latest store comes after it was named multiple retailer of the year for the third time in a row at the UK Watch and Jewellery Awards on July 2.
Chisholm Hunter, which employs 250 staff, reported a 35 per cent increase in pre-tax profits to £2.8 million for the year to the end of March, on turnover of nearly £30 million. It is aiming to lift sales to £40 million this year.
