THE remuneration of the highest paid director at Business Stream, Scotland's dominant provider of non-domestic water services, has risen by 15 per cent, writes Scott Wright.

New accounts for Business Stream, headed by chief executive Mark Powles, at Companies House show the package of the highest earning director rose to £242,800 for the year ended March 31.

This compares with £211,000 the year before.

The accounts show the package included a salary of £158,000, up from £147,200, a bonus of £74,800 and benefits totalling £10,000. The bonus and benefits accrued to the highest paid director were booked at £54,300 and £9,500 respectively in 2013. Total directors' remuneration at Business Stream increased to £437,400 from £381,900, as the organisation saw pre-tax profits rise to £38.3 million from £35.3 million the year prior.
