LAW firm ­Shepherd and Wedderburn has appointed Gareth Parry, pictured, to its construction and projects practice.

Mr Parry joins with 24 years' experience in private practice, having served as a partner and headed construction teams with McGrigors and DLA Piper.

He brings considerable expertise in major energy, regeneration and infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas to his new role.

Stephen Gibb, chief executive at Shepherd and Wedderburn, said: "Gareth is a senior and high quality player in the construction and projects field, and we are delighted he has agreed to join us."

Interim recruitment

RUTHERFORD Cross has hired Derek Lauder, pictured, and Lucy Edgar, also pictured, to head its new interim recruitment division.

Mr Lauder will focus on commerce, industry and the public sector in the west of Scotland, while Ms Edgar will focus on commerce, industry and financial services in the east. Mark Lewis of Rutherford Cross said: "We regard the appointments of Derek and Lucy as a coup for the firm at a time when the interim and temporary market is in a transformational phase."

Two on board

TWO new appointments have been announced by Scottish law firm Morisons.

Karen Wooton, pictured, has joined the private client team in Glasgow, and will specialise in working with carers, older people and those living with learning and physical difficulties.

Ms Wooton was previously head of private client at NewLaw Scotland and an associate with McKinstry Company in Ayr.

Morven Douglas has also joined the Glasgow office, taking up the post of associate within the firm's family team. Ms Douglas is an accredited specialist in family law and joins from Balfour and Manson in Edinburgh.

Managing partner Peter Duff said: "Both appointments are in two of the firm's growing teams and we are pleased to incorporate Karen and Morven's skills within the departments to develop our increasing client base."

Interim boss

WEST of Scotland Housing Association (WSHA) has appointed Carron Garmory as its new interim chief executive, following the retirement of Duncan McNaught.

Ms Garmory, who steps into the role with immediate effect, was previously director of finance and corporate services at the organisation.

Before joining WSHA she was director of finance at The Wise Group.

Ms Garmory said: "This is a really exciting challenge and I'd like to thank the management committee for their ongoing support."

WSHA chair Katie McLeod said: "It is with regret that our chief executive Duncan McNaught is retiring due to ill health.

"With his extensive knowledge and experience in the sector, Duncan will be a huge miss to the organisation. "However, both myself and the other committee members know Carron's appointment will enable a seamless transition for all of our stakeholders."
