SIMPSON & Marwick has picked up a hat-trick of prizes at the 11th Law Awards of Scotland.

It was named the best firm with more than 40 fee earners and the best property firm.

The firm, which has its Scottish offices in Glasgow, Dundee, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and North Ber-wick, also shared a joint award in the employment category with Fox and Partners.

Judges said: "Simpson & Mar-wick demonstrated significant growth and development. They also provided fantastic testimonials which gave them the edge."

Allan McDougall, which has offices in Edinburgh, Dalkeith and Penicuik, was named the best law firm with fewer than 40 fee earners.

Judges said: "Allan McDougall's was an impressive entry which highlighted their charity work and ticked all of the criteria that the judges were looking for."

The firm also took away the high street firm title at last night's awards at Glasgow's Radisson Blu Hotel.

Harper Macleod's Rod Mackenzie was named solicitor of the year while Brian Inkster, from Inksters, got the managing partner award.

The judging panel was chaired by Hector MacQueen of the Scottish Law Commission. The Herald is the Law Awards of Scotland's media partner. The event was sponsored by Professional Office Supplies, Stirling Park, Tilney Bestinvest, The Firm and Investec Wealth & Investment.
