THE nominees for the Law Awards of Scotland include firms and lawyers from all over Scotland.

The solicitor of the year prize sees MBM Commercial’s Cat MacLean, Balfour+Manson’s Fred Tyler, Mandy Louise Rawlinson from Standard Life Investments, Caritas Legal’s Lorna Brown, Claire Newcombe from DAC Beachcroft Claims and Aamer Anwar make the shortlist.

Ms Rawlinson also made the cut for the up and coming lawyer of the year. She was joined on that by Liina Tulk and Laura Peachey from MBM as well as Susie Henderson and Andrew Upton, both from Harper Macleod. TCH Law is also nominated in that category.

DLA Piper Scotland, Thompsons Solicitors and Harper Macleod made the shortlisted in the firm of the year with more than 40 fee earners category.

For those with fewer than 40 fee earners Thorley Stephenson, Innes & Mackay and McSherry Hailliday are the ones selected.

Hector MacQueen, professor of private law at the University of Edinburgh and chairman of the Law Awards of Scotland 2015 judging panel, said: "The judges were delighted by the quality of the entries.

“They show a profession in good heart as it recovers from some difficult years. Solicitors across Scotland continue to fight against injustice in particular cases and in general across a wide range, while also seeking to serve the needs of their private and commercial clients ever better in a fast-changing world."

The awards, backed by The Herald, The Law Society of Scotland, Professional Office Supplies, The Firm and Stirling Park, take place in September.
