Wallets Marts sold 67 store heifers in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £1350 per head and 275.5 pence per kilogramme to average £984.03 and 220.4p (+6p on the fortnight), while 219 store bullocks peaked at £1255 and 237.2p to level at £980.50 and 217.6p (-1.4p).
John Swan Ltd sold 53 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 251p and an average of 221.2p (-3.1p on the week), while 22 prime bullocks peaked at 247p and levelled at 215.6p (-6.5p).
In the rough ring 43 beef-type cows averaged 124.3p (+3.9p).
The firm also sold 2195 prime lambs to a top of £94 per head and 188p per kg to average £63.15 and 147p (+3p).
The 871 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £88 for Texels and average £50.10, while light ewes peaked at £47 for Cheviots and levelled at £34.07.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 9 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 245.5p and an average of 210.3p (+1.2p), while 28 prime bullocks peaked at 242.5p and levelled at 202.8p (-6.6p). Thirty-four prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 209.5p and averaged 176.3p (-8.9p), while 47 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 187.5p and levelled at 143.6p (+4.6p).
In the rough ring 63 dairy cows averaged 131.3p (-0.5p) and 182 dairy cows levelled at 90.9p (-7.5p). Six bulls averaged 124p (+3.7p).
The firm also sold 2481 prime lambs to a top of £84.80 and 204.7p to average 153.6p (+9.4p).
The 329 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £96 for Texels and average £66.75, while light ewes peaked at £75 for Hill Cheviots and levelled at £36.56.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 2420 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £83 and 182.2p to average 148.8p (+10.6p).
The firm also had 1115 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £133 for Texels and £57.50 for Blackfaces, with the overall average, which included 569 Blackfaces, levelling at £48.60.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 18 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 251p and an average of 236.3p (-2.2p), while 6 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 222p and levelled at 216.8p (+7.1p).
Six prime, B&W bullocks sold to 164p and averaged 151.4p (+0.2p).
In the rough ring 44 beef cows averaged 128.1p (+6.1p) and 45 dairy cows levelled at 86.4p (+5.7p).
The firm also sold 2695 prime lambs to a top of £79.50 and 178.8p to average 148.4p (+5.2p).
The 1192 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £127.50 for a Texel and £51.50 for Blackfaces.
