C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their fortnightly sale of store cattle in Dumfries on Monday that incorporated their autumn sale of organic cattle. Fifty organic store heifers sold to a top of 221.9p per kg and an average of 202.1p, while 44 organic store bullocks peaked at 226p and levelled at 208.3p.

In the non-organic section 78 store heifers sold to 239.6p and averaged 207.3p, while 246 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 239.1p and also levelled at 208.3p. Forty-four store, B&W bullocks sold to 175p and averaged 144.3p.

United Auctions sold 6307 store and breeding sheep at Stirling on Monday. Top prices and averages for selected breeds of store lambs: Suffolks to £56.50 and averaged £53.15 (+£1.64 on the year); Texels £59 and £51.22 (-93p); Mules £55.50 and £50.93 (+63p); Blackfaces £53 and £43.46 (+1p); Cheviots £52 and £43.07 (-£6.19).

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had 6520 store lambs forward in Longtown yesterday when trade was sharper. Top prices and averages for selected breeds: Suffolks £57.50 and £52.74; Texels £61.50 and £52.63; Greyfaces £63 and £48.85; Hill Cheviots £56 and £48.18 for 2091; Blackfaces £51.50 and £42.10 for 2140.
