Jarvie Plant Group has signalled it will continue to invest in expansion after spending almost £15 million over the last 12 months.

The independent firm, which has its headquarters in Grangemouth, said the money has gone on new equipment, vehicles, premises and staff.

It now employs 150 having added 15 new jobs in recent months.

The company, founded by John Jarvie senior in 1960, will open an Aberdeen depot before the end of this year and also relocate its Dundee site to larger permanent premises.

It had been renting in the city for the past 18 months.

Jarvie Plant has a preferred supplier agreement with City of Edinburgh Council and is involved in major infrastructure projects such as the Aberdeen Bypass and the upgrade of the M8 between Newhouses and Baillieston. It also worked on parts of the recently opened Borders Railway.

David Jarvie, business development director, said there has been growing activity in a number of markets the company operates in.

He said: “The number of large scale public infrastructure projects in Scotland is on an unprecedented scale and we’re delighted to be playing a part in all of them.”

Jarvie Plant finance director Stuart Granton said: “The renewed demand has encouraged us as a business to make significant long-term investment across our three core hire areas - accommodation, plant and vehicles but also in our most important resource, people.”

Annual accounts at Companies House show turnover rose from £13.4m to £15.4m in 2014 while pre-tax profits increased from £1.6m to £3.5m.

Mr Jarvie said that sister company JP Vehicle Rentals has also been investing, adding 200 new vehicles in the last year.

He added: “We’re seeing huge opportunity for growth which is why we are steadily building a strategic network of depots across Scotland. Our Aberdeen facility opens in December, Inverness will follow in 2016 and we’ve got other locations planned.”
