THE highest-paid director of Innis & Gunn received remuneration of £589,000 in the craft beer firm’s most recent financial year, accounts newly-available at Companies House reveal.

Accounts for the company, run by chief executive Dougal Sharp, show remuneration for the high-paid director in 2014 leapt from £538,000 the year before.

That came as pre-tax profits at the Edinburgh-based from increased by 20 per cent to £294,000 in the year ended December 31.

Turnover rose to £11.8m from £10.5m despite revenue per case falling compared with previous years because of the strength of sterling versus the US dollar, Canadian dollar and the Swedish crown – the currencies of three of its main export destinations.

The year saw the company open new export markets in Italy, France, Russia, Brazil, South Africa and, since December, Asia.
