Amaris Hospitality is to invest £25 million in rebranding two of its Scottish hotels to Hilton Worldwide brands.

The Carlton in Edinburgh will undergo a £15m facelift while the Glasgow City Hotel will get £10m spent on its revamp into the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central.

John Brennan, chief executive of Amaris Hospitality, said: “We’re delighted to have the opportunity to undertake such an exciting programme to restore these two iconic Scottish hotels to their former glory.

“This initiative will leverage their prime city centre locations, a significant investment programme and Hilton’s upscale brands to further optimise future revenues and deliver exceptional service to our guests.”

The hospitality company is also spending around £5m on its Custom House hotel in Dublin to turn that into a Hilton.

All the hotels are to get the rooms, public spaces, facilities and conference spaces refurbished with the work expected to be completed by the third quarter of next year.

Amaris, which already operates three Hilton-branded hotels in London, will continue to operate the Scottish hotels under a franchise agreement.

It also has Jury Inn hotels in Aberdeen Glasgow, Inverness and Edinburgh. Along with those it has Ardoe House, the Altens Hotel and The Caledonian Hotel, all in Aberdeen, as well as the Marine Hotel in Troon and The Stirling Highland Hotel.
