Babycare brand Mamas & Papas hailed a record Christmas after like-for-like sales jumped 18% higher to £12 million in the six weeks to January 3. The Huddersfield-based group said December 27 was its best trading day ever, with a record number of child car seats sold in a week and 2,000 pushchairs sold - equivalent to one every 10 minutes. Mamas & Papas returned to profit in the year to March 29 2015, with underlying earnings of £91,000 against losses of £5.7 million the previous year. The business, which was acquired by BlueGem Capital Partners in July 2014, operates in 59 countries, has 34 stores in the UK and employs 1,245 people.
