THE three co-founders of travel search company Skyscanner have invested in the Edinburgh-based developers of an app designed to make it easier for friends to meet up.

Skyscanner chief executive Gareth Williams and co-founders Bonamy Grimes and Barry Smith have invested in Decidz, which was set up in 2015 by two former Skyscanner executives including Mr Williams’ younger brother, Tom.

Decidz, which has ten staff and is based at CodeBase in Edinburgh – the UK’s largest tech incubator – is understood to have secured initial funding of around £350,000 from investors including the Skyscanner co-founders.

“We think the scheduling space is missing a trick and we’re developing a product better designed to fit the user’s lifestyle rather than being just another tool,” said Tom Williams. “Decidz is less about calendar management and more about creating a conversation that leads to people doing more together.”

Bonamy Grimes, who has joined Decidz as a non-executive director, said: “We’re excited at the opportunity for Decidz to become a go-to app with the ability to transform how people organise their social activity in the 21st century.  They have a small, but world-class team in place with the support of quality investors and advisers and we’re all pointed in the right direction when it comes to the potential of the product and its scalability.”
