NINETEEN winners were announced at last night’s s1Jobs Recruitment Awards at Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza Hotel, with a further four commendations made across a range of categories.

Edinburgh-based volunteering charity Venture Scotland was named Best Charity Employer after 100 per cent of staff agreed the organisation was committed to their careers and livelihoods.

“These awards are a fantastic way to recognise exceptional achievements in the world of recruitment and the talent pool we have in Scotland,” said Rhona Baillie, chief executive of The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, which sponsored the charity award.

The Best In-house Recruitment Team with under 500 employees, sponsored by employment agency Reed Global, was awarded to Glasgow-based funeral planning firm Golden Charter, while the Best In-House Recruitment Team with over 500 employees, sponsored by recruitment software firm Broadbean, went to Doosan Babcock, the energy services specialist.

The Renfrew-based business also sponsored the HR Team of the year award, which was won by Borders-based seafood wholesaler Farne Salmon & Trout.

“We are proud to support an awards evening that fuels the buzz of the recruitment sector in Scotland and promotes a great candidate experience,” said Paul Motion, senior recruitment manager at Doosan Babcock.

Best Recruitment Video, sponsored by intelligent video specialist 29studios, was awarded to Greenlaw Grove care home, part of East Kilbride-based Thistle Healthcare.

More than 700,000 s1Jobs users also had the opportunity to vote for their number one employer, recruitment consultancy and consultant in the awards.

The Best Small Recruitment Consultancy, sponsored by Anderson Group, the recruitment services business, was awarded to independent recruitment consultancy Peace Recruitment, who were applauded by s1jobs users for their “amazing staff and great support.”

Recruitment Consultant of the Year winner went to Peace Recruitment’s Matthew Gilchrist.

New this year was the s1 Shine Award, created to celebrate an employee who has made an outstanding contribution within their company. This was won by Doosan Babcock recruitment advisor Louise-Ann Griffiths.

Best Employer Brand, sponsored by creative agency ABC Creative, recognises the business brand that has been most popular with s1Jobs users, and was awarded to IT services business FDM Group.

This year’s Chairman’s Award was presented by s1’s Sales Director, Gavin Mochan, to Ann Budge, owner of Heart of Midlothian Football Club.
