DECOM North Sea, the industry body for firms involved in decommissioning work off Scotland, has appointed a veteran of the sector as its new chief executive. Roger Esson joins Decom North Sea after gaining more than 20 years experience in decommissioning work, which has included spells in senior positions at Stork and Amec Foster Wheeler. Decom North Sea’s chairman Callum Falconer said Mr Esson would play a big part in ensuring the creation of a sustainable supply chain in the emerging decommissioning sector. Many North Sea fields will be taken out of production in coming years. Mr Esson said: “This is a challenging time for the North Sea industry and it is vital that we focus on helping our members understand and prepare for the opportunities that are available.”
