Wallets Marts sold 53 store heifers in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £1010 per head and 243.6p per kg to average £752 and 208p (+1p on the fortnight), while 45 store bullocks peaked at £1090 and 294.6p to level at £833 and 230.5p (-1.5p).
There was also a reduction sale of 35 beef cows with calves from JJ&I Baird, Potterland that sold to £1850 and averaged £1360.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 839 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £91 per head and 175.1p per kg to average 152.2p (-7.8p on the week), while 244 prime lambs peaked at £100 and 228.6p to level at 189.6p (-16.6p).
The 823 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £131.50 for Texels and £69 for Blackfaces.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 48 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 244p and an average of 205.3p (+4.1p), while 15 prime bullocks peaked at 236p and levelled at 207.3p (+10p).
In the rough ring 64 beef cows averaged 129.3p (+5.3p).
There were also 526 prime hoggs that sold to £98 and 207p to average £77 and 171p (-6p), while 204 prime lambs peaked at £111 and 232p to level at £96 and 201.5p (-18p).
The 304 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £124 for Texels and average £77, while light ewes peaked at £75 for Cheviots and levelled at £51.
The firm also sold 14 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 206.5p and an average of 178.6p (-11.3p), while 37 prime bullocks peaked at 206.5p and levelled at 190.1p (+7.7p). Fifty-five prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 224.5p and averaged 173.3p (-7.7p), while 58 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 164.5p and levelled at 128.8p (-8.8p).
In the rough ring 127 beef cows averaged 126.3p (-1.5p) and 212 dairy cows levelled at 95.8p (-1.7p). Eleven bulls averaged 116.3p (+7.2p).
There were also 436 prime hoggs that sold to £110 and 200p to average 155.5p (-17.4p), while 304 prime lambs peaked at £111.80 and 235.4p to level at 190.9p (-3.9p).
A small show of 97 cast sheep saw ewes sell to £95.50 for Texels and £64.50 for Hill Cheviots.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 26 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 241p and an average of 220.1p (+2.2p), while 7 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 212p and levelled at 203.5p (+1.2p). Seven prime, B&W bullocks sold to 137.5p and averaged 129.3p (-2.2p).
In the rough ring 30 beef cows averaged 124.2p (+3.1p) and 40 dairy cows levelled at 104.1p (+14.2p).
The firm also sold 806 prime hoggs to a top of £109.50 and 197.8p to average 164.9p (+1.1p), while 68 prime lambs peaked at £104 and 241.9p to level at 208.2p (-0.7p).
The 264 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £148.50 for a Texel and £69.50 for Blackfaces.
