A WHISKY bar created by two long-established family businesses will officially launch in Edinburgh’s Old Town tonight.

Edinburgh restaurateurs Victor and Carina Contini have teamed up with Ian Macleod Distillers, owner of the Glengoyne and Tamdhu single malts, to open Cannonball Bar at the top of The Royal Mile.

The bar, located close to Edinburgh Castle, has a range of more than 120 malt whiskies, and includes a dedicated events space, The Glengoyne Room, in its basement.

Based in one of the city’s oldest buildings, it takes its name from the cannonball shot lodged in the wall facing the castle. It was designed by Kerr Blyth of interior specialist KBAD.

Neil Boyd, commercial director for malts at Ian Macleod Distillers, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Victor and Carina to launch Cannonball Bar and The Glengoyne Room. The location of Cannonball House is so unique and couldn’t offer a more authentic Edinburgh experience.”

“Our collaboration with Contini is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Scotland’s national drink.”
