BILLY Walker, who sold the Benriach Distillery Company Scotch business to Jack Daniel’s owner Brown-Forman for £285 million in April, has been named entrepreneur of the year in the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards 2016. Daniel Sherry, international sales manager at the Eden Mill drinks business, won the young talent award. Scottish Sea Farms of Oban was judged business of the year. Scotland Food & Drink chief executive James Withers said the awards reflected the strength of the sector in the country. He noted: “We have an amazing mix of established world-class business and a new generation of entrepreneurs coming through.”
