EY Scotland strengthens tax team

THE TAX team at EY Scotland has increased the number of senior level advisors at the professional services firm’s corporate tax and people advisory services (PAS) with the addition of two executive directors and one director.

Karen Davidson has joined EY as a director in the firm’s PAS team. She will lead the firm’s share scheme and reward practice in Scotland and comes with 19 years’ experience gained at Pinsent Masons.

EY Scotland has also welcomed the transfer of two executive directors from the UK practice. Claire Evans will head-up EY’s UK tax audit team and Simon Whiteside will lead EY tax’s continued focus on the owner managed business sector.

In January Laura Mair and Stewart Mathieson, both partners, took leadership of EY Scotland’s corporate team in the central belt and government and public sector tax team across Scotland respectively.

PwC names three Scottish partners

THREE new partners have been named in Scotland by business services group PwC. The group said the moves reflected its commitment to risk assurance, actuarial services and digital offerings.

Jonathan McGuffie will lead the actuarial services team, Lindsey Paterson will continue to advise on risk assurance and Stewart Wilson will lead the digital transformation business across the devolved local and regional government sector and managing the software as a service (SaaS) offering known as Engage promoted in Scotland.

The partner promotions come into effect on July 1. Across the UK, a record 61 partners are being promoted – 28 per cent of whom are female.

Bristow Helicopters names new directors

Bristow Helicopters, the Houston, Texas-based firm, has appointed Russell Torbet to director UK search and rescue (SAR) effective August 1. He will oversee the operation of the civilian search and rescue service on behalf of HM Coastguard.

Mr Torbet, who will be based in Aberdeen, replaces Samantha Willenbacher who has been promoted to Bristow Group’s regional director for the Americas Region.

Mr Torbet joined Bristow in 2013 as project manager UK SAR, following a distinguished 32-year career in the Royal Air Force attaining the rank of Air Commodore. He was appointed a CBE in the 2007 New Year’s Honours List.
