BARCLAYS and HSBC have said they have no immediate plans to ditch the UK following the result of last week's referendum on the EU.

Jes Staley, Barclays chief executive, said the lender plans to stay "anchored in Great Britain".

"Right now we are not making any plans to pick up and move people from one location to another," he told the BBC.

Meanwhile, HSBC chairman Douglas Flint has told a conference that the bank is also staying put.

The messages come a day after Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley moved to quash rumours that they are drawing up plans to move their London banking operations to Frankfurt in the wake of the vote.
