AN ANNUAL contest to find Scotland’s finest entrepreneurs has launched today.
Entrepreneurial Scotland, in association with Deloitte and media partner The Herald, is now taking nominations for the 2016 Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.
It gives entrepreneurs who are scaling the heights in Scottish business the chance to follow in the illustrious footsteps of past winners such as Sir Tom Hunter, Anne Budge and Jim McColl.
Centring on two awards – Entrepreneur of the Year and Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year – the prestigious scheme is designed to honour individuals who have excelled in business over the past 12 months. Nominees are invited from all sectors and can be company founders, chief executives and leaders of innovative organisations or family businesses.
The nomination process is open until Wednesday August 31, after which successful nominees will then be judged by a panel of industry experts. Contenders will then be interviewed, and their businesses visited, by judges.
The winners will be announced at Entrepreneurial Scotland’s annual dinner on Wednesday 30th November 2016 at the at the Doubletree Hilton, Glasgow on St Andrew’s night,

Last year the Entrepreneur of the Year Award was presented to Mike Loggie, chief executive of Saltire Energy, with Julie Wilson and Amy Livingstone, founders of Cheeky Chompers, winning the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year title. Sir Jim McDonald, principal and vice-chancellor of the University of Strathclyde, received a one-off award last year for his outstanding contribution to entrepreneurship in Scotland.
Previous winners of the awards also include David Milne of Wolfson Microelectronics, Simon Howie of the Simon Howie Group, Hamid Guedroudj of Petroleum Experts, Peter Vardy of Peter Vardy Motors and Mike Welch of Blackcircles.com.
