C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 18 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 221.4p and an average of 200.2p (+7.2p on the fortnight), while 35 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 257p and levelled at 214.3p (-1p). Fifteen store, B&W bullocks sold to 211.7p and averaged 155.6p (+23p).
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1602 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £109 per head and 225.1p per kg to average 202.1p (+16.4p on the week).
There were also 461 cast sheep forward that were fully £2 per head sharper on the week with ewes selling to £120 for Texels and £64 for Blackfaces.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 42 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 239p and an average of 212.5p (-0.9p), while 26 prime bullocks peaked at 237p and levelled at 209p (+0.4p). Seven prime bulls sold to 221p and averaged 168p (n/c).
In the rough ring 45 beef cows sold to 189p and averaged 126.8p (-2.9p).
There were also 2088 prime lambs that sold to £110 and 243p to average £83 and 202p (+3p).
The 341 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £100 for Suffolks and average £78 while light ewes peaked at £71 for Cheviots and levelled at £53.
The firm also sold 20 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 232.5p and an average of 194.5p (+5.1p), while 30 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 226.5p and levelled at 197.6p (+4.1p). Six prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 159.5p and averaged 142.5p (+2p). Forty-eight prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 221.5p and averaged 175.7p (-6p). while 58 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 164.5p and levelled at 134.4p (+2.8p).
In the rough ring 135 beef cows sold to 177.5p and averaged 126.7p (-4.2p), while 206 dairy cows peaked at 133.5p and levelled at 94.4p (-2.3p). Nineteen bulls sold to 159.5p and averaged 121.8p (-2.2p).
There were also 2106 prime lambs that sold to £114.80 and 266.2p to average 207.2p (+8.9p).
The 135 cast ewes forward sold to £109.50 for Texels.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 14 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 246p and an average of 227.1p (+2.7p), while 5 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 212p and levelled at 203.3p (+3.1p). Seven prime, B&W bullocks sold to 137.5p and averaged 132.5p (-2.4p).
In the rough ring 39 beef cows averaged 118p (-10p) and 40 dairy cows levelled at 89.5p (-5.5p).
The firm also sold 1674 prime lambs to a top of £107 and 227.4p to average 204.8p (+11p).
The 552 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £136.50 for a Texel and £75.50 for Blackfaces.
