Wallets Marts had a small show of store cattle in Castle Douglas yesterday when 8 heifers sold to a top of £1000 per head and 209p per kg to average £831 and 200.2p, while 32 bullocks peaked at £1020 and 240.4p to level at £839 and 203.6p.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1837 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £96 per head and 207.3p per kg to average 186p (-16.1p on the week).
There were also 783 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £145 for Texels and £60 for Blackfaces.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 48 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 240p and an average of 213.9p (+1.4p), while 24 prime bullocks peaked at 239p to level at 211.2p (+2.2p). Three prime bulls averaged 218p.
In the rough ring 33 beef cows sold to 167p and averaged 132.2p (+3.4p).
There were also 2276 prime lambs that sold to £107 and 229.9p to average £83 and 196.5p (-6p).
The 510 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £100 for Texels and average £78, while light ewes peaked at £66 for Cheviots and levelled at £56.
The firm also sold 13 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 239.5p and an average of 206.5p (+12p), while 17 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 227.5p and levelled at 205.3p (+7.7p). Four prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 138.5p and averaged 135p (-7.5p). Thirty-five prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 214.5p and averaged 182.2p (+6.5p), while 59 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 167.5p and levelled at 133p (-1.4p).
In the rough ring 110 beef cows sold to 175.5p and averaged 123.1p (-3.6p), while 136 dairy cows peaked at 136.5p and levelled at 99.2p (+3.8p). Twenty-five bulls sold to 141.5p and averaged 120.1p (-1.7p).
There were also 2046 prime lambs forward that sold to £115.80 and 270.5p to average 196.1p (-11.1p).
A small show of 143 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £97.50 for Texels and average £66.23, while light ewes peaked at £65.50 for Hill Cheviots and levelled at £33.38.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 23 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 250p and an average of 224.1p (-1.3p), while 3 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 219p and levelled at 204.2p (+0.8p). Four prime, B&W bullocks sold to 159.5p and averaged 133.2p (+0.6p).
In the rough ring 12 beef cows averaged 124.5p (+6.5p) and 40 dairy cows levelled at 91.6p (+2.1p).
The firm also sold 1564 prime lambs to a top of £102 and 219.1p to average 195.5p (-9.3p).
The 507 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £115.50 for a Texel and £64.50 for Blackfaces.
