SERICA Energy has restarted production from the Erskine oil and gas field 160 miles east of Aberdeen following a pipeline blockage. Production was suspended in February after a cleaning device became stuck in the line. London-based Serica had hoped the field would come back online in April. The restart was pushed back after wax deposits in the area of the blockage inhibited recovery of the device. Serica’s chairman, Tony Craven Walker, said Eskine had made a strong contribution to earnings since the firm bought into the field in June 2015, a year after the crude price started tumbling. He added: “This has equipped us to withstand issues such as this shutdown. Now that production has resumed we expect this strong performance to continue.”
