C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 76 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 230p per kg and an average of 200p (-0.6p on the fortnight), while 85 store bullocks peaked at 235.2p and levelled at 209.1p (-2.8p). Ten store bulls sold to 240p and averaged 201.6p (-1.5p).

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 2079 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £100 per head and 220.9p per kg to average 187.8p (+6.7p on the week).

There were also 1078 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £129 for a pen of Texels and £66 for Blackfaces.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 40 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 237p and an average of 219.5p (+1p), while 13 prime bullocks peaked at 234p and levelled at 215p (-3.1p). A couple of prime bulls sold to 191p and averaged 189p.

In the rough ring 45 beef cows sold to 159p and averaged 131.3p (+7.1p).

There were also 2819 prime lambs that sold to £106 and 222p to average £79 and 187.7p (-0.8p).

The 795 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £105 for Texels and average £76, while light ewes peaked at £77 for Cheviots and levelled at £57.

The firm also sold 25 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 234.5p and an average of 211.1p (+15.2p), while 26 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 229.5p and levelled at 195.1p (-2.3p). Seven prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 157.5p and averaged 146.3p (+20.8p). Forty-five prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 217.5p and averaged 188.6p (-4.3p), while 48 dairy-bred bulls peaked at 185.5p and levelled at 136.8p (-5.7p).

In the rough ring 82 beef cows sold to 174.5p and averaged 126.1p (-5.8p), while 215 dairy cows peaked at 147.5p and levelled at 90.4p (-7.2p). Seventeen bulls sold to 138p and averaged 115.6p (+0.8p).

There were also 2923 prime lambs that sold to £108.80 and 247p to average 193.5p (+0.7p).

The 207 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £100 for Texels and average £69.94, while light ewes peaked at £47.50 for Swaledales and levelled at £44.71.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 15 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 260p and an average of 223p (+2p), while 10 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 224p and levelled at 212p (+3.5p). A couple of prime, B&W bullocks sold to 141p and averaged 135p.

In the rough ring 42 beef cows averaged 122p (-1p) and 30 dairy cows levelled at 90.1p (-1.4p).

The firm also sold 2088 prime lambs to a top of £100 and 219.1p to average 189.2p (+8.3p).

The 634 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £159 for a Texel and £70.50 for Blackfaces.
