ISLE OF Arran Distillers will bring a second single malt whisky brand to the market after being granted permission by North Ayrshire Council to build a second distillery on the island.

The Lagg distillery is part of the company’s ongoing investment to increase capacity and capability and support future company growth.

“It marks a new chapter in the developing story of Isle of Arran Distillers,” said managing director Euan Mitchell. “The designs from our architects Denham and Benn are truly spectacular and we can't wait to see them brought to life.”

As Isle of Arran Distillers revealed a net profit of £1 million last week, up 25 per cent on the previous year, Mr Mitchell revealed that the new distillery will have a capacity of up to 800,000 litres per annum, resulting in a new brand of Arran single malt whisky.
