United Auctions sold 6504 store lambs at Stirling on Monday. Top prices and averages for selected breeds: BTex to £69.70 and averaged £65.82 (-96p on the week); Suffolks £72.70 and £62.52 (-£1.70); Texels £79 and £63.72 (-£1.47); Mules £61.50 and £56.12 (-£3.01); Blackfaces £46 and £43.43 (+£4.04).

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 20 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 262p per kg and an average of 230.1p (-1.1p on the week), while 5 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 238p and levelled at 222.4p (+2.3p). Six prime, B&W bullocks sold to 139.5p and averaged 137.5p (-1.1p).

In the rough ring 35 beef cows averaged 121p (+0.5p) and 55 dairy cows levelled at 90.5p (no change).

The firm also sold 2272 prime lambs to a top of £95.50 per head and 203.2p per kg to average 169.1p (-8.1p).

The 1008 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £134.50 for a Texel and £61.50 for Blackfaces.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1791 prime lambs at Ayr on Monday to a top of £100 and 200p to average 172.3p (+0.5p).

A large show of 1410 cast sheep saw all classes £2-£3 sharper on the week with ewes selling to £110 for a pen of Texels and £63.50 for Blackfaces.

The firm went on to sell 12 prime heifers at the same venue yesterday to a top of 229p and an average of 216p, while 5 prime bullocks peaked at 187p and levelled at 180.7p.

In the rough ring 79 beef cows sold to £1190 per head and 179p per kg to average 128.7p, while 101 dairy cows peaked at £1000 and 125.2p to level at 90.6p.

There were also 17 dairy cattle that sold to £1700 for a Holstein Friesian heifer and averaged £1082.
