PETROFAC has restarted operations on a big gas field in Tunisia which had been disrupted by protestors, Reuters reports. The head of Petrofac’s operations in the North African country, Imed Darouich, told the agency that operations on the Chergui field on Kerkennah island restarted on Monday. Reuters said Tunisian officials had agreed a deal to bring an end to the protests at Chergui, which started in January amid frustration about high levels of unemployment in the country. Petrofac has big oil and gas services operations in Scotland. It incurred hefty losses on a contract to build a terminal to process gas from the giant Laggan Tormore development off Shetland.
