Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 207 store heifers at Ayr on Thursday to a top of £1200 per head and 235.7p per kg to average £834.32 and 200.8p (-4.5p on the week), while 212 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1300 and 244.4p to level at £906.53 and 204.3p (+2.7p). One-hundred-and-thirteen store, B&W bullocks sold to £890 and 155.9p to average £621.11 and 138.7p (+0.2p).

There were also 1420 store lambs forward that were fully £2 sharper on the week and averaged £56.59. Leading prices for selected breeds: Suffolks £75, Texels £69.20, Mules £64 and Cheviots £59.50.

C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 3763 prime lambs in Longtown on Thursday to a top of £100 per head and 232p per kg to average 169p (-9p).

A large show of 6174 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £144 for Texels and average £66.48 (-£3.90), while light ewes peaked at £59 for Blackfaces and levelled at £38.80 (-34p). Rams sold to £148 for a Texel and averaged £81.21
