UNITED Wholesale Grocers saw its revenue drop three per cent to £128m, from £132m, in 2015 as the convenience store supplier faced strong competition and pressure on pricing.

In accounts filed at Companies House, United Wholesale Grocers – which supplies the Shop Smart chain of convenience stores in addition to Lifestyle Express stores through its membership of the Landmark Group – saw a 22 per cent fall in pre-tax profit to £520,000.

The company’s employee numbers remained stable at 154 with staff costs of £3m.
