CITYGATE Construction is on track to add £4 million to its turnover this year after winning a number of contracts south of the Border.

The Paisley-based firm said it expects revenue to reach a record £14m this year, and signalled its ambition to create more jobs and offices down south after opening its inaugural English base in Preston.

Its move into England, where it a recently worked on a £1.5m student accommodation project in Bradford, has led to projects in Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle.

The company’s expansion has led to adding 20 staff to its headcount this year, taking its employee tally to 123.

Managing director Leo Reilly said: “This has been a remarkable year for the business – much of this can be attributed to the commitment and hard work of our staff. Of great significance has been the contracts won south of the Border in addition to our widespread activity in Scotland

“We have won many orders across the United Kingdom thanks to a combination of good value, performance and our hard-won reputation.”

Meanwhile, CGC’s steel division has recently diversified into the fabrication of high-quality structural steel, building on its traditional metal fabrication work. It was recently awarded a European CE marking accreditation for its steel, which it said would help it compete for large-scale steel fabrication contracts.
