CONVENIENCE grocery and off-licence chain G101 has narrowed pre-tax losses to £23,000 as a refurbishment of its portfolio was completed.

For the year to May 31, 2016, the company – which is the largest independent chain left in Scotland – saw revenue slip by £500,000 to £47.3 million because of a change in the product mix.

G101 is owned by the King family, which also owns and operates the G1 group of bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

In accounts newly filed at Companies House, director Natalie King wrote that the business was continuing to expand and the senior management team had grown to progress this strategy.

The group, which operates more than 40 stores under the One-O-One fascia, improved its gross profit margin to 16.3 per cent from 15.6 per cent.
