SCOTCH whisky giant Edrington has appointed former Scottish Enterprise chairman Crawford Gillies to its board as a non-executive director.

Mr Gillies, whose business career has spanned more than three decades, is currently on the boards of SSE and Barclays, where he chairs the remuneration committee in a non-executive capacity. He also founded The Saltire Foundation, which aims to develop entrepreneurial leadership in Scotland.

Edrington chief executive Ian Curle said: “Crawford’s wide ranging international business experience will be invaluable to Edrington as it seeks further growth in the premium spirits market.”

Mr Gillies began his career at international management consultants Bain & Company, rising to become European managing director.
