RENEWABLE energy firm Atlantis Resources has installed a fourth turbine at the MeyGen tidal power development in the Pentland Firth. The company said the Atlantis AR1500 tidal stream turbine was connected to the existing subsea production facilities in less than 60 minutes. MeyGen has been delivering power since November last year. The AR1500 turbine system was designed under contract by Lockheed Martin, tested and commissioned at the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult’s facility in Northumberland and loaded out from Meygen’s operations base at Nigg Energy Park. Atlantis said construction of the second phase of Meygen will start later this year.
