THE founder of Copylab, the Glasgow-based investment writing and communications agency, has highlighted ambitions to double the size of its workforce to about 120 over the next three years.

Ross Hunter, who owns the business with wife Sam, said that he hoped to announce a partnership with a German company in coming days as Copylab pursues European expansion.

Copylab, which serves investment banks and fund management houses by writing material for the clients of these financial institutions, is also planning expansion into Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Elsewhere in the Middle East, it has already moved into the market-place in Saudi Arabia.

The company, which Mr Hunter said expected to post a 25 per cent rise in revenues to about £2 million for the year to February 28, opened an office in Boston in January last year. And it launched an operation in Singapore last July. Copylab is also targeting expansion in Hong Kong and Australia.

The company, founded about four years ago, now has 25 permanent staff and 35 freelance workers.

Mr Hunter said: “I would expect the size of our team to increase to 120 in the next three years or so, with most of that headcount being in Scotland and America.”

Copylab employs seven people in Glasgow and eight in Edinburgh.

Mr Hunter said: “The financial sector is obviously important to Scotland. It is good to be able to create a lot of high-quality jobs.”
