THE PORT of Cromarty Firth has been awarded two contracts by one of the companies that will begin installing the 84-turbine Beatrice Offshore Windfarm in the Outer Moray Firth later this year.

Seaway Heavy Lifting, which is working alongside Subsea 7 on the construction and installation of the turbines, has procured berth and laydown space as well as office space from the port, generating 10 per cent of its annual turnover in the process.

Port chief executive Bob Buskie said the berth being used by Seaway had been designed “with offshore renewable projects in mind”, adding that the port is “well placed” for the Beatrice windfarm.
