bioQuarter team set to get busy

THE Edinburgh bioQuarter partnership has unveiled the first members of its programme team.
David Ridd arrives as business development, communications and marketing manager while Jennifer Thwaites joins as collaboration and networking manager.
The Edinburgh bioQuarter is a life sciences campus home to leading academic and clinical researchers, who work alongside new and growing businesses. It is a partnership between Scottish Enterprise, City of Edinburgh Council, NHS Lothian and the University of Edinburgh. 
Both join from NHS Lothian. Mr Ridd worked there as external communications manager and Ms Thwaites was project manager for the Royal Edinburgh Campus Redevelopment Team. 
Mr Ridd will lead marketing and promotion activity to position Edinburgh bioQuarter as a leading life sciences campus, with the aim of attracting new commercial tenants, research collaborations and other investment.
Ms Thwaites work with partners, customers and clients to foster more joined-up working relationships on site.

High profile hires for property firm

GRANT Property has appointed former Scotland cricket captain Preston Mommsen and young banker of the year 2016 finalist Nicole Perry to its growing team.
After representing Scotland in international cricket for more than six years, Mr Mommsen announced in 2016 he would be leaving competitive sport and has joined the company as a property buyer for Edinburgh. 
Speaking about his change from the world of competitive sport, he said: “I’ve always had a passion and interest in property and invested personally when I played cricket. It was an opportunity I grabbed with both hands.”
Ms Perry has joined as associate director of investment and will focus on developing Grant Property’s UK and international growth strategy. 
A finalist in last year’s young banker of the year, she was previously with Tesco Bank where she entered the graduate scheme and became international commercial development manager. 
John Moran, managing director, said: “Both Preston and Nicole are fantastic additions to our expanding team”.

Loganair new starts in the wings

LOGANAIR has appointed 12 staff, ranging from a team of senior qualified accountants to transactional finance support specialists as it prepares to fly under its own banter following the end of a long-term franchise agreement with Flybe.
The recruitment was handled by Glasgow-based HR Consultancy, which helped the airline secure key appointments.
New risk and control manager, Scott Peterson, has moved from Greenpeace based in the Netherlands to take up the role. Peter Howard, formerly of Wylie & Bissett, has joined the business as revenue accountant and Aleksandra Kawka from Caledonian Sleeper has taken up the role of finance business partner. 
Jim McNellis has also joined as systems accountant and Hayley Quinn as senior management accountant. HR Consultancy has also placed five transactional accounting staff.
