ABERDEEN Asset Management has appointed a global head of loans under a drive to offer a wider range of investment opportunities to clients. Paul Mehta has taken up the position after working as a senior trader in BNP Paribas’s Loan and Distressed debt team. His brief will include continuing Aberdeen’s drive to invest in a much wider, global range of loans across the US, Europe and emerging markets. Steve Logan, Global Head of High Yield at Aberdeen Asset Management, noted clients increasingly wanted to invest in loan. He added: “We are working to provide more tailored solutions that suit our clients’ requirements, which means including an emerging market element.” The board of Aberdeen Asset Management has recommended an £11bn merger with Standard Life.
