EDINBURGH-based Wood Mackenzie is expanding its renewable energy consultancy business helped by the acquisition of a Danish wind power specialist, MAKE. Wood Mackenzie’s parent, Verisk Analytics, said it had acquired MAKE to help the energy consultancy respond to increased demand for market analysis and advisory services in respect of renewables and the evolving global electricity industry. Neal Anderson, global head of consulting at Wood Mackenzie, said decarbonization is the defining trend in the energy industry today. The firm is building a strong position to offer clients the latest thinking in the renewables sector. Verisk backed Wood Mackenzie’s expansion in the renewables market last year with the acquisition of Greentech Media. It bought Wood Mackenzie in 2015 for £1.85 billion.
