Audit watchdogs to pursue Transport Scotland over £250m trams payment

The convener and vice- convener of the Scottish Parliament’s Public Audit Committee are urging the Auditor General to authorise an investigation into Transport Scotland’s financial oversight of the Edinburgh tram project.

The move comes in the wake of figures showing that public money paid out to the project by the Government agency appeared to exceed payments due under agreed guidelines by up to £250 million.
