Utility and futility ... just when will the tram saga terminate?

At Edinburgh’s Haymarket, whose entrails have been exposed for much longer than is decent, one tram worker stands watching his colleagues by the side of the road.

He wears the red overalls of Clancy Dowcra, one of two construction companies that were drafted in to pick up the slack on diverting utility mains after Carillion abruptly departed the project at the end of last year.
